As the world Turns....

As the world turns or... the auto-start function is driving me crazy.

So I was sitting in my room making some adjustments and modifications to my 530. I have it set to the default auto-start at 6mph. Several times during these adjustments the unit would just start. When I checked the route it would appear that I had just ridden about 3 houses down the street. I'm guessing as the earth rotates it appeared that I was actually moving?

No. (The earth rotates at a 1000mph.)

It's either issues receiving GPS signals inside or moving a wheel…

It must have been the GPS thing since I was sitting in my easy chair in my office. No wheels were turning. Thanks.

Being indoors makes it harder to get an accurate GPS fix. Likely this is why the GPS plot is wandering considerably and triggering autostart with the reported speed between points.

Inside you can't get a good (if any) GPS fix. The signals keep coming and going making the unit think it is moving when it isn't. This is totally normal and has always been a thing.
