Weather Alerts cannot Be Disabled on Edge 530

I cannot disable weather alerts on my Edge 530. Every time I disable it, it comes right back as active. It's not safe to have to keep clearing the message while riding.

I see this problem goes back years.

When will you have a fix or should a just move to a different brand like Wahoo?

Thanks...

  • As with a number of settings, Garmin Connect will override the settings on the device at the next sync.

The fix has been in place a number of years. In the Garmin Connect app, go to the Edge device settings> General> Weather Alerts = Off. And then sync.

  • But the app is the issue, I’ve turned it off a milion of times but it just turns back on again.

I guess we’ll never get a fix for this c**p, it has been going on for years…

  • yeah, there is no way to disable them for good and it's very annoying!

  • It's a bug in the IOS version of Garmin Connect (I believe).  I have disabled all notifications on the iPhone and also turned off location services, but you will still get weather notifications.  You can have some relief by doing the following:  Fire up your Garmin 530, and then open the Garmin Connect app.  From the connect app, turn off weather notifications, and then sync the app/phone with the 530.  Now quit the app, and make sure to swipe up to force it to terminate (force quit).  Then, don't open the connect app, while your 530 is turned on and it won't sync and turn on weather alerts.  This seems to be a work around.

Note that Garmin has known about this issue for at least 3 years (it's also an issue on the 1030), so I would suggest getting a Wahoo in the future.
