About the screen while riding

Hello,
I'm French, so I don't necessarily use the right corresponding terms to describe Garmin screens, sorry.

For information, I use version 9.1
I chose on my travels the 6B screen and I chose not to have the navigation map.

For the last line of this screen, I chose "The distance left to go" on the left and "The time" on the right.
When I ride on a programmed route, I never see the indication of "The distance to go" but instead in white on a red background a "Distance traveled" rarely more than 1 or 2 miles taken from a point X, undefined?

Regarding the "Time" box, I have the clock on the last line and on the right of the screen as well as the four other elements chosen at the top of the screen and in good order.

Do you have any idea about this little problem?
Is it due to a bad configuration on my part?
Should I go about it differently?
Or is this a known issue?
With thanks. Sincerely, Thierry.

  • “Distance to Go” requires a target distance to be set. Try using “Distance to Destination”.

  • If you are riding on a "Programmed Route" as you say, "Distance to Go" would have the same amount of distance remaining to ride as if you had "Distance to Destination" displayed. I have checked it on my 530.

If you are seeing data fields with a red background and white text, that seems to indicate you are using the two data fields relating to the "Virtual Partner, "Distance Ahead" and "Time Ahead". If you are behind the "Virtual Partner", the display will turn to red, otherwise, it will be black text on a white background or vice versa if it is night time.

I use "Virtual Partner" a lot and rather than use the "Virtual Partner" screen, set up both the two data fields up on a seperate Data page. Perhaps that is what you have done.

And as you say, "Distance Travelled" is rarely more than 1 or 2 miles, then that shows you are about that distance behind your "Virtual Partner" and more or less confirms you are using the "Virtual Partner" data fields.

  • Thanks PeterK_55, Leginswal completed your answer, either will help me.
    Cordially. Th.
  • Thank you Leginswal for your very precise answer.
I will therefore initially try to remove the "Virtual Partner" even if it means coming back to it later because it is an interesting option.
I saw the "Intervals" tab which seemed to activate. All other tabs seem off to me
The documentation in French does not refer to any box in red on a white background, it's a shame.
    Cordially. Th.

  • Hello,
The explanations received previously allowed me to solve my problems and I specify that as far as I am concerned the proposal ““Distance to Destination” is better than “Distance to Go”.
The white pad on a red background indeed concerned the virtual partner and by dint of touching all the buttons, I managed to delete it.
Thank you - Sincerely - Thierry.
