how calibrate or initialize elevation at start of a ride

Recently migrated from a model 500 to 530.

The 500 let me assign known elevations to specific GPS coordinates, for exmpl, my home.  Then, when I'd "start" the activity on 500, it would automatically initialize the elevation to the stored value, regardless of what the barometric sensor would detect.

The 530 seems to lack that capability.  I've assigned known elevations to my home's GPS location, but when I start the activity, the 530 seems to ignore the pre-set elevation.  The 530 will assign whatever the barometer thinks is the elevation.

Am I overlooking a setting to mimic the 500's behavior?

Or is that just the way the 530 works, and can't change it?

What's the point of 530's manual elevation input, if it's going to ignore known elevation pre-sets?

  • Thanks for the reply, that's what is happening to me (only recalibration at start). Which I'd be fine with, but as said, it does not actually set the saved elevation but something in the range of +-6m, and that's what bothers me because it can make that my ride ends up with negative elevation points... Because I'm almost at sea level.

I have my saved location at home with 11m set, but sometimes I press start very close to the point and it "calibrates" to 5m or sometimes to 17m or sometimes just correct.

Also if I am not moving it seems more precise, is this possible? May the temperature also affect?

    Thanks!

  • I will do, but it is a rarity and only see it by chance when I look down and notice the message which does not stay on the screen long, and the chances are, it would be gone by the time I can take a screenshot.
