Random characters in the Segment view for the Indoor Profile

When I ride a route in the Indoor Profile, the Segment data screen just displays random garbage characters for the segment names (see screenshot below).

This doesn't seem to be a problem when I ride the same Course in the Road profile. I assume the segments are coming from Strava. I've tried re-syncing but it doesn't seem to matter.

Is there something I'm missing here? Should the Segments work when using an Indoor Trainer in the Indoor profile? I rode the course and everything else seemed fine so I don't think the route data was corrupt. It does it for all of my courses that I have saved.

    Sure, this is the GPX file that I extracted from the Garmin Connect website. Like I said, the course is created as a route in Strava and synced via the Strava integration.

    I need to see the FIT file from your Edge unit. The GPX file will not contain any references to segments. 

    The file will be in the Garmin\Courses folder on the Edge.

    I uploaded this file as a new route in Garmin Connect, synced, and started an indoor ride and it has the same problem for me. Curious if it does the same thing for others.

    Sorry, here is the FIT file for the Course. The other interesting thing is that when I road this course under the Indoor profile on the Edge, Garmin gave me badges and things as if it was an outdoor route (I got the Frosty badge for riding below freezing). Seems like something isn't matching up somewhere.

    The fit file has references to 5 segments. So the course point page should have 10 entries,

    5 Segment  starts and 5 segments ends.

    I believe that very early on in the smart trainer integration Garmin did supported embedded segments and then later decided that did not really make sense so dropped support for executing segments while on a course.

    Do you have the "Deer Haven Sprint" segment on you list of segments on the unit?

    Let try with one of my courses and see what I get.

    So I don't get any segments showing up when I execute a course indoors, which is the excepted behavior. 

    What software build is your Edge on?

    Would you mind posting the indoor profile. It is in the Garmin\Sports folder on the Edge.

    I'm running 9.10.

    When you say you don't get any showing up, do you mean you don't get the Course Points List like you do on the Road profile? I can see the segments on the Map screen even in Indoor, but when I display the Segments data screen I see the garbage (or if I start a ride on it in Indoor and go to Course Points List, same garbage).

    On the Road profile, the Course Points List shows the correct segments.

    What's really weird is that even if I disable Segments (the little green slider) and/or tell the data screen configuration to not show the Segments screen (hide = true), it still has the garbage segments screen when I scroll through the data screens. It's like I can't even disable it for some reason.

    Ok, this is some weirdness. I'm not sure if connecting to my computer did something to the Edge or just hard rebooting it helped, but now the Course Point List (and Segment with the garbage) isn't showing up when I scroll through the status pages.

    I can't seem to make the problem happen anymore. Perhaps just a hard reboot was the solution.
