non-Beta firmware?

Former Member

I updated my firmware just last year and on a lark I checked and wow, have there been a lot of releases since!  Version number's went from 5 to ... 9.10beta.

I want to stick with versions that Garmin has enough confidence in a not brand as "beta" and I'm having trouble finding them.  Can someone help me find the latest non-beta firmware?

Thanks in advance!

There is a v9.10 Beta.  And it's the only firmware for the Edge 530 I can find.

Can you provide a link to this non-beta version of 9.10?

This is where the beta version is:

In case that page changes, here's the text from the top of it as it is now (I added the red color to that last note for emphasis)

Are you not seeing the firmware notice on the top of the 530 forum page? If you posted here, you would have seen the notice. Below is part of the notice. note that it was released 12 days ago.

Yes! I totally see that.  It's just the only links I can find are to that beta page I mentioned.  Where's the non-beta version?  Anyone?

  • Production Versions after 7.10 (I think) have only been available via syncing your device to Garmin via Garmin Connect Mobile (phone), or Wi-Fi or Garmin Connect / Express on a computer and then the 9.10 will be downloaded automatically for installation next time you turn on the device. Garmin did get a bit confused (and confused us) with versions 9.00 (beta) & 9.10 (beta) followed by 9.10 production which was the same as the beta.

  • You have to connect to Garmin Express or Garmin Mobile to download the update.  Have you done this?

I've never even installed Garmin Express.  I've actually actively avoided connecting things like GPS's with my personal info to the internet.  Is that the only way forward these days?  The last time I upgraded it was as easy as copying a file to a folder on the GPS unit & rebooting it.

I've give support a ring during normal business hours sometime next week and see what they have to say.  If they have anything interesting to say I'll post it here.

    Thanks everyone.

  • Perhaps someone in the forum has saved the 9.10 update and can forward it to you.

Garmin Express requires very little personal information. Perhaps it tracks your IP address but that not unusual. Your cell phone is constantly being tracked.

  • The 9.10 GA version is the same as the 9.1 Beta.

The version number represents what's in the firmware. Since the number hasn't changed, the content/code is the same.

The GA (general availability) and Beta indicate how it's being distributed/released.
