Dare I say it - sensor dropouts fixed (HRM)?

I updated my HRM strap firmware when I was prompted (about a week ago) and since then have had no power/cadence dropouts. Only been a few rides since then, but in 12 months this has been the most reliable I've had the power/sensors/530 running!

Has anyone else experienced any improvements since updating the HRM strap?

  • I can't tell, but the issue was raised with many types of sensors not all made by Garmin, so I wonder if all the vendors will update their firmware, which I doubt...

  • I rarely have dropouts (but I only own my 530 since a few weeks) but I had one (cadence sensor) on my last ride and my HRM strap was running the latest firmware. So I would say, totally unrelated.

  • My "Ronde" branded speed/cadence sensors still constantly disconnect and reconnect.  The Garmin HRM and Garmin Speed/Cadence Sensor 2 seem OK with the latest Edge firmware.

  • Please don't dare to say it !

I'm happy that your issue is fixed, but i'm still having HRM and Di2 drop outs on every ride. PM seems ok for me.

I was looking at the edge 1030 plus unit a while ago when on sale but a quick look on that forum showed the same issue on the latest firmware of that unit - so i didn't bother.

  • I'm curious as to whether (somehow) the Edge unit isnt to blame and it was irregular signalling from an adjacent sensor. It would explain a lot if it did fix things (yay for standards), but sounds like its still hanging around like a bad smell for others.

meltonboy - 1030plus, 530 and 830 all have very similar innards and chipsets from what I can tell...
