how do you load a RideWithGps GPX route to the edge 530

Just replacing my Edge 705! Yes, it lived a long time!

With my Edge 705, i got RideWithGps GPX files to the edge by downloading the route to a file on my computer and then attaching the Edge 705 with a cable to the PC and dropping the GPX file in the GPX folder on the Edge. Very simple, intuitive, worked reliably!

I have connected the edge 530 to the computer, but there is no GPX folder. Do you just drop a GPX file in the "Courses" folder? Or, how do people get GPX files from RidgeWithGps on the PC to put the GPX file on the device?

Put it in the Newfiles folder. The garmin will convert it to a FIT file & put it in the courses folder when you disconnect from the computer

Yep, the newfiles folder.

Or you can use Garmin Connect (app or website) to import a route and send it as a Course via your phone wirelessly.

Or #1 : Link your RwGPS to a Garmin Connect account and it transfers new routes to your device when it connects via WiFi (see the "Linking" help in RwGPS, also will transfer the other way, ie rides from device to RwGPS via Garmin Connect)

Or #2 " There are some excellent Garmin IQ apps/widgets (https://sites.google.com/view/grouteloader/grouteloaderiq) that will transfer a RwGPS route to your device (using WiFi or Bluetooth or your phone hotspot)

Thanks for all the answers! I tried the Newfiles folder and that works just fine. I may experiment with some of the other suggestions but for now "Newfiles" seems to offer me approximately the same process as i am used to. Thanks!

Im having the same issue. I put gpx or tcx file in Newfiles and they disappear - the 530 appears to convert them but they do not show in Courses. I can convert to a FIT myself and put that in courses, not on the course list. I used to have no problem uploading these files to the 530 - NO DICE ANYMORE!

In addition, loading the files into Connect and sending to the device, doesnt work either!

How many courses do you have on the Edge already? Also do you have any courses already on the edge with a similar name?

That was a revealing question. I counted. I have EXACTLY 100 courses loaded. I wonder if there is a 100 course limit? There is space from a memory perspective and names are not similar. Ill try deleting some irrelevant courses and see what happens!
