Map updates

I recently bought the Edge 530 and while I was creating a course in Garmin Express it said there was a map update available. After I installed the update the navigation on the Garmin became unusable. Sometimes it says ‘maps do not have routable roads in the area’, other times it just gives a short segment. The normal data screen with navigation at the top of the screen doesn’t happen any more. Any suggestions please? Garmin says it is new to them

    Map Settings

    Select > Activity Profiles, select a profile, and select Navigation > Map.

    Orientation

    Sets how the map is shown on the page.

    Auto Zoom

    Automatically selects a zoom level for the map. When Off is selected, you must zoom in or out manually.

    Guide Text

    Sets when the turn-by-turn navigation prompts are shown (requires routable maps).

    Map Visibility

    Allows you to change the appearance of the map.

    Map Information

    Enables or disables the maps currently loaded on the device.

    History Line Color

    Allows you to change the line color of the path you have traveled.

    Draw Contours

    Shows or hides contour lines on the map.

    1. make sure the garmin map is enabled.

    2. reinstall the map via garmin express. make sure not to touch the device and dont let the pc go to sleep. after alot of time the map is installed.

    What maps do you have on the unit and which ones are enabled?  Use the Map Information option to see.  Where are you located?

    I have INTL Standard Basemap, NR, Garmin Cycle Map EU, North East, 2021.10 and Garmin DEM Map EU 2020.10. All enabled 

    I am in Warwickshire, U.K.

    You need the South West Europe map enabled. The UK is in that one.

    The North East map covers northern and eastern Europe. The south west map covers southern and western Europe.

    Thanks. How do I get the South West Europe map? Interesting that the navigation worked fine until I upgraded the map

    It should be be installed by default if you have a unit bought in Europe. European units have both Europe maps covering the entire region.

    If it has gone missing I am not sure how to force Garmin Express to put it back.
