edit: After reading a few complaints on the navigation, I think the beat idea would be to insert as many points as possible within the route!
Here is a screencap from my Strava segments…The Garmin was looping me around this section for 20 minutes, it was taking me to the beginning of the course
I’m fairly new to Garmin, this is my method right now to get to places and discover routes. I’d really appreciate anyone’s input on what I might be doing wrong.
I usually find a nice cycle route and plot it down on Garmin Connect. I save two separate Courses, one to the destination and one from the destination. Going to the destination is usually smooth riding. But the return is a nightmare. It never finds the beginning of the course, so I just set off following the lines on the map. Garmin asks me if I want to ride to the beginning of the course and I say No. I’ve also tried saying yes but it’s the same thing.
It seems to direct me fine for a while and I ride maybe 5-10min in the right direction. Then at some point it gives me a wrong turn, starts telling me to make a U turn and I find myself riding back to the start. I haven’t been able to exactly determine where this happens- the map is not that clear or big enough for me to dissect its route… Sometimes it takes me in a sort of a reverse loop like today, but ultimately I can see it’s trying to take me to the beginning of the course (ie, the destination I am trying to return from). This has happened in every Course I make where I don’t set off from Home…
Today I decided I was just going to follow the course on the garmin visually ignoring all the peeps to turn around. Maybe it catches on, I thought. Well, it never did, I rode all the way back and the garmin was trying to take me back to the start the whole time.
