My new Garmin Edge 530 (1 month old) is very slow at changing % gradient .

My new Garmin Edge 530 (1 month old) is very slow at changing % gradient . I had a Garmin Edge 810 for about six or seven years and it was almost instant at changing % gradient and I got used to that . Now the new Edge 530 is painfully slow , and most annoying when riding on undulating terrain , it's lagging way behind . I'm looking for advice please ?

Try running the data field "Sensible Grade" from the Connect IQ store. It is free and works better than the Garmin built-in grade field. It also gives the grade down to the tenth of a % instead…

This is a 1030 plus, 830 and 530 fault . Now Garmin gives youy very good battery devices but full of joke functuions devices. Same imprecise measurments with temperautre and location accuaracy.

I also have different things I don't like to this unit, but we should see if charging is a problem. In this case we could be more specific, simply by measuring the charging time. For example my unit has charged with a Samsung phone charger from 22% to 100% in 128min. Is it too much, is it too little? In my opinion it is in normal parameters. (as I said in my case, maybe yours differ).

Anyway battery life it's a good thing about 530.

No one spoke here about the battery charge duration. Here is talking about lag when displaying grade percentage of road incline( gradent) while riding a bike

I had the same problems with the Elevation and % Grade with my Edge 530.

Thanks for your help, but I have already tried "Sensible Grade" and "Gradient" from the Connect IQ Store , and they both give the same issue as the Garmin gradient field . That being they are very slow at changing the % gradient . Unlike my old Garmin Edge 810 which was almost instant at changing the % gradient as I ride up and down hills. At the moment I am in contact with Garmin Product Support (email) and I get a different person each time . I don't think they fully understand the issue. Thanks anyway !

What is the firmware version of your Garmin 530?

I had very slow Elevation updates wit firmware versions: 6.20, 6.28 Beta and 7.1

My Garmin 530 started working again fast as before after I made full reset + all data deletion and flashed it with firmware version 7.0.

The link to this version is also in the forum post. It's important to use the reset menu with all old data deletion before the 7.0 firmware flash.

I'm also using Sensible Grade, and now wit the fixed Elevation update speed it's prefect! Before the problem fix it was working as bad as the Garmin Grade data field.

20 seconds it is not work perfectly for update of instant gradient. So after all you did .... You have the same problem that has got ozzipetedge. The update of instant gradient is not instan , it is 20 seconds late
