Time not synching when connecting to phone or wifi

I'm currently running v7.10 for my firmware and GPS version 4.8 and still using my Indoor biking profile - so no GPS connection. I've noticed that the time on my Edge 530 is not correct. The time has drifted by a few seconds and DST has not been observed - so now my time is 1 hour +/- 30ish seconds off. I've tried doing a full reboot of the device and directly connecting my computer using Garmin Express. Both did not solve the problem.

Is there something I have to turn on for the wifi and/or phone synching to cause a time sync?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

  • Start the 530. Select a profile that you would use outdoors so the GPS is turned on.  Take it outside and let it get a GPS lock.  The time will correct itself.  Switch it back to the indoor profile for turbo use.

  • Thanks. I'm aware that getting a GPS lock will fix the time. I'm asking specifically about the synching on connection to Garmin Connect and/or wifi. It's supposed to work, but it doesn't seem to. I'm wondering if there are any steps that need to be taken to enable it.

  • I've no idea about that.  I don't think Express on the computer syncs the time.

    I've always just let my 830 get a GPS lock every so often when using it indoors to keep the time correct.
