Switching power meters and VO2 max

I used to ride indoors and outdoors with a Stages Ultegra power meter left/right connected to my Garmin Edge 530. I recently bought a Tacx Flux Smart 2, who has its own powermeter. The Tacx Flux Smart 2 has some problems which Garmin support acknowledged, the power unit needs to be replaced. I just need the trainer some more weeks to finish my indoor training plan and after that I'll send it back to Garmin for repair.

In respect to the Stages Ultegra power meter the Tacx Flux Smart 2 is 10 to 20 percent off to the lower side.

In the previous setup I had the Stages connected to my Garmin Edge and Zwift to the Tacx. After measuring the 10 to 20 percent difference, I mounted my stages power meter back to my road bike and switched both Zwift and the Edge to the Tacx power measurement. It looks like after that, my Garmin Edge 530 starts warning that my training status has become unproductive because my VO2 max is dropping.

It looks to me that this is related to the 10 to 20 percent difference in power measurement, is this assumption correct? Is the VO2 max calculated with the measurements from the power meter?

I understand needing your trainer to continue training consistently, but I would encourage you to reach out to your local product support team again. There may be options to send you a replacement immediately depending on your location and the stock available. I cannot guarantee it, but it may be worth a shot if you have already determined with them that your device is in need of replacement/repair.
