BT vs ANT+

According to Garmin, sensors should be connected using ANT+.
However, when I combine heart rate monitors with Edge 530 (both Gramin Duo and a heart rate monitor from Decatlon), the signal is better with BT. There is less distortion related to HRV. This can be clearly seen in the charts. Maybe this advice on ANT+ is no longer valid?

  • The conclusion of Garmin's advice (which is a sticky topic in this very forum) is quite explicit:

"In-short, unless there is a good reason to pair over BLE such as data content or signal strength then the recommendation is to pair over ANT."

In your case, you are finding that the signal strength is better over BT, so go ahead and use Bluetooth.
