Night mode and True Up

Two questions:

1 - Is there any solution for riding at night, without having to press up or down buttons to highlight the screen?

2 - True Up really works? I also have FR935 and only thing I see is my last ride with Edge530 on the watch. Training load or status not synchronized. Neither recovery time.

Any one can help?

Thanks

  • 1. Set backlight to "always on".  I have always used my device this way.  530 has a setting where it auto adjusts the brightness based on ambient light.

    2. I'm not sure what that is, sorry!

  • 1. I have added a link below to our support center article on the different backlight settings available.

    https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/edge530/EN-US/GUID-7212E2C9-684E-4962-94C4-D226D0A1B519.html

    2. Have you turned this feature off and back on again? Also, do you know which device is set as your primary one when you view this information in the Garmin Connect Mobile app?

  •  Hello, is there any possibility of adding a "always on" switch among first row of status page options, beside brightness setting?

it would be useful and faster to set  if you sometimes need your display to be always on, eg. during night riding or in any low light riding condition.

  • 1. While riding there isn’t an easy way of doing this: backlight always on at night.
the background color indeed turns black automatically after sunset so, why not an option to turn the backlight always on, after sunset? You just can’t start riding in daylight and end at night. You go out with high brightness and screen always on, or not (and will have to press buttons at night), or will have stop and modify the settings to always on... not functional.
AlfreDoss suggestion was a good solution.

    2. I’ll try to switched them off and on again, the informatics solution... now they are both on and  each one with is own training status, load... this doesn’t make any sense.
FR935 is my first device for almost 3 years. Edge 530 I’ve got since last month.
what Garmin announces is a synchronized performance status with Physio True Up, but then what we see at Garmin Connect is this separated by device. I really don’t get it. What is supposed to happen with Physio True Up on with more than one device? Even manuals refer this functionality... but it is... a lie?

  • The Physio True Up was never working for me, I have it enabled on my Edge 530 and Descent MK1 and both show different values. A lot of Garmin functionality is just marketing fluff and in reality things just don't work.

  • That’s what I thought.

But today I went for a run with FR935.
Both devices were “recovery” but with different training loads.
After the run both devices went “maintaining”, slightly different load and same recovery time.
Maybe the reason is they start calculating at different times.
Still, training status, load and recovery time there should be only one, the athlete is just one.

  • Another run today:

    FR935 - Maintaining

    Edge 530 - Recovery

    It’s official, doesn’t work!

Misleading marketing, Garmin should be hardly penalized for this kind of thing.

  • I have a Fenix 6 and a 530, and Phsyio True Up works just fine.

Note that it takes 3 syncs to get everything lined up (once to get a ride onto Garmin Connect, a 2nd time to get the ride from GC onto the watch, and a 3rd to get the integrated metrics from the watch back onto GC. To get a run onto the Edge, it takes 3 syncs in the opposite direction.

I also sync before a ride/run, to ensure that everything has a common starting point.

Note that the 935 has an earlier generation of Training Load (no Load Focus), so the Training Load figures will be slightly different. I recall seeing this when I had a Fenix 5 (which also had the earlier TL) but True Up still worked fine.

  • I own a FR645 and Edge 530 and they always show different training status as well, only recovery time is the same for both device.

It's funny that I can find two different training status on GC with obviously different training loads, one for every device...
