Strava routes no lonoger syncing as Courses, have tried all suggestions

Things I have tried:

- Disconnecting and reconnecting Strava app permissions

- Hard resetting my Edge 530

- Disconnecting and reconnecting my phone

- Manually upgrading to v7.10

When I sync my device, it says "Download complete" on the Edge, but the Courses remain empty.

None of these worked. What else can I try?

  • For anyone experiencing issues when syncing their Strava routes to their Garmin, please attempt the below troubleshooting steps. 

    • Remove and re-add the star on these routes
      • New routes will sync over, but pre-existing routes must be starred again
    • Remove the connection between Garmin Connect and Strava, then reconnect

    If you have finished these steps and you are still unable to sync Strava routes to your Garmin, please respond to this post with permission for us to reach out to you directly. We will need to gather some information directly to help us look into this further. 

  • Ok, i have now done this. I unstarred/restarred my routes in Strava
    I then disconnected Strava from Garmin Connect and then reconnected.
    It has not changed anything.
    The list of courses on Garmin Connect is completely different from the list of my routes on Strava.
    The only 2 routes that have updated to my Edge are the two that i selected on GC and used 'send to device'
    Automatic syncing is not working. It was fine a couple of weeks ago.

    Please advise

  • I'm having this issue with my new Edge 530, have tried the above mentioned fixes with no improvement.

    It's not great to be having issues already with a unit I only bought a couple of hours ago...

    I'm happy for someone to reach out directly to me if this will help resolve the issue.

    i got into a long email exchange about my issues with Garmin tech and we finally found that there was a corrupted course causing all the problems. So my advice would be to unstar  all courses in Strava and then delete them from the Garmin Connect app and from your device. 
    Once you’ve done that, try starting one course on Strava and see if it syncs as it should.

  • Fantastic, thank you for that. It seems to have worked and the courses are now showing correctly.

    Hopefully it's just teething troubles and it'll be ok from here on in!

  • I have tried the above issues and still having this issue.

    I can create a new route on strava and it will sync, but unstarring/starring does not work for a route that has been previously sync'd but deleted on the device

  • Seems I have same issue as others, have tried suggested steps and now I don't have any courses on device.  Have re-starred just a couple of courses but not being synced.  Do wish I hadn't as at least I had a selection of courses that I could use, just couldn't add new.
