Need help to see live segment on device during training

did you get the segment in favorite?

  • See what said. Also, AFAIK, segments don't work during courses or workouts. That's one of the reasons I did not continue my Strava premium. During most of my rides, I'm either following a course and/or a workout. If I can't see the segments during those times, what's the point?

  • Segments will work when following a course, but the course must be created in Strava and either synced to Garmin Connected and then downloaded to the Edge or pulled on to the Edge using the Strava Route app

  • The other thing to consider is that it seems only uphill segments will be copied over these days, anything even slightly downhill will not.

and of course you need to "star" the segment in Strava for it to be sent to your Garmin account for syncing, and, in your Garmin account you need to say you want to use Strava segment and not Garmin segments, so there IS a little bit of house keeping in the background to do to get things working in the first place.

  • Correct. Strava prevents any segment with an average grade of -0.2% or lower from being synced.

  • Note that many live segments will crash navigation, such that you will have to restart the route.
For best user experience, disable live segments while navigating. Restarting the course can takes minutes, leaving you puzzled where you need to go to in the meantime.

Also most live segments do not work independent of the grade of the segment.
The live segment will trigger and then immediately state "of course".

Gladly this has nothing to do with GPS quality. Navigation works well along the route where the segments are.
I assume a software bug as culprit, present for 8 months now. No one cares though.

Some segments work nevertheless. Good luck, you will need to find out by yourself which work and which do not.

  • This is a Garmin limitation. They work on a Wahoo
