I have a brand new, out of the box Edge 530 and when I switch it on, it has a black screen.
Tried charging and resetting (holding power button for 10 seconds) with no success.

Also tried the following and had no joy either:
Non-prompted Non-Vol Clear - Clears NV and deletes all FIT files including Activities, Courses, Workouts.
Unfortunately Wahoo has its own issues. I bought the Bolt prior to this Garmin for mountain biking, and the GPS was complete crap and unusable in tree cover, unlike the previous model, so it was useless for off road though probably fine for paved roads. Now Garmin is having hardware issues too.
I have the same issue with my unit. Worked fine for first 3 months, then turned it on yesterday for a ride and has the issue you described. Called Garmin, they said it's a hardware issue that was fixed in June and are replacing it. Your post was 10 months ago so hopefully you got taken care of. Just letting you know you were not alone.
Just got my 530 about a week before Thanksgiving. Like others, nearly a black unreadable screen, with sunglasses (polarized and transitions). No better without sunglasses. No problem with my 500 or 520 plus. Called Garmin tech support and was told to send the edge 530 back for a replacement which I plan on doing this Monday. Hopefully the replacement will solve the problem. You mentioned this is a hardware issue that was fixed so I am guessing there is an abundance of defective edge's out there??Has anyone here received a replacement? And to the point, has the dark screen issue been resolved after getting a replacement? .
