Using a silicon case with gloves?

Hi,

New Edge 530 owner, I mostly choose this button version vs the Edge 830 because I'm riding half of the year with winter gloves. And after 2 rides, this isn't so easy to use those buttons with gloves. Probably a habit to get into... But I also looking to try with a case, I have the impression that it makes the buttons a bit bigger? I'm right or it makes the ergonomics even worse?

  • They work with gloves but depending on what you want to use the buttons for you may want to look at the remote.

  • This was also a big factor for me choosing the 530. I bought a Tusita case from amazon and it works fine with gloves, but does take a bit of practice. I don't really see the case making it easier or more difficult TBH, but i haven't really tested that as I've used the case all the time. For some reason I don't always hit the correct down / up arrow (close together), but most in menus you can go all the way up or down to the same place.

  • I would not say they make ergonomy even worse but they certainly do not make it better either.

Although I chose 530 over 830 for the same reason as you did, I found out that those buttons let's just say... don't work like a charm.

  • Ok so I'm not alone. I hope that with a little practice it will get better.

  • Yes, I forgot this remote control. TBH as I'm using my Edge on multiple bikes, this not the best solution either. Thanks ;)

  • I bought one remote and multiple mounts so I can move it between bikes; £10uk per bike.  I have them near my thumb so it's also safer when riding as I don't have to take my hands off the bars.

  • I have the Garmin "MTB" case on my Edge 530 and it definitely makes pushing the buttons a lot harder.  I constantly accidentally put the device into sleep or accidentally hit Up/Down or whatever.  It is pretty annoying... but I have left the case on since I like to keep my devices pristine.

  • I see, looks like the better solution. Finally, I should have taken the 830 with this remote solution Joy
