Calorie count stopped after power meter disconnect

I found what appears to be a minor defect in the Edge 530. My power meter battery died during a ride yesterday. It looks like the Edge stopped counting calories at that point so the total is too low. I would think if the power meter fails then the Edge should fall back to calculating calories based on heart rate (I was wearing a heart rate monitor), but apparently it didn't do so.

    It should switch to using another method after the power meter shutdown, but it may take a few minutes to make the switch as it gives the power meter some time to see if it appears again.

    If you post the FIT activity file I can see if it changed calorie methods. .

    The response from aweatherall is correct, your device should have automatically switched once the power meter was no longer available. 

    Have you recorded any activities since, with or without the power meter to see how calories were recorded? Sharing your .fit file is the best way to find out exactly what happened.
