Red triangles on map

When I look at my map after my ride with Garmin connect there are small red triangles scattered over the map. What do they signify?

I would guess they are showing the location of a peak or summit

Would you be able to share a screenshot of what you're seeing? If you are referencing colors overlayed on your activity track, this can be information such as Power, Heart Rate, Speed, etc.

Here is a copy of my map.Triangles only show up with open streets.

Yes, that is the standard symbol for a summit.
