Hi,
I have a Stages Gen 3 power meter (power+cadence) and a garmin gsc10.
is it possible to retrieve just speed from gsc10? Cadence only from the power meter?
Thank yoiu
If you remove the GSC 10 from the pairing on your Edge, and then re-pair it, this should work without issue if you select Speed rather than Speed/Cadence as the sensor you're searching for.
You can…
I have used my bike with the Rotor power meter on a wheel-on turbo trainer. No GPS, speed / distance recorded (from GSC10), cadence from the Rotor. This is on my Edge 530, and on my previous Edge 520
…Why do You need the Stages's cadence instead of the GSC's one? As i know the cadence's priority is in this case that the GSC has higher one, so You cant get cadence from Stages if the GSC is paired . (Only the Vector pedals have higher priority and get cadence data instead of GSC, every other powermeters /pedal, crank, spider-based/ have lower priority unfortunately. ) You should get a speed sensor only and use only that one (btw the GSC is so old-fashioned, making the bike ugly a bit... :) )
Hello Luko79,
First thanks a lot for your answer.
I bought the "old school" gsc10 due to garmin not supporting cadence only devices on the Etrex 30X (which I use also). this when I had a Wahoo "shoe" cadence sensor.
Now I added a 530 and powermeter...If I need the cadence from gsc10 I need to add magnet to powermeter which may not be very good (I think).
Also purchasing more eletronic devices is not on my plan, if I can't have speed/distance, no worries, was to make use of it.
Thanks you a lot for your knowledge
I have the same setup: a Stages Gen 3 power meter and a GSC10 speed / cadence sensor. I do not use a magnet on the crank / pedal, and I get cadence from the Stages and speed from the GSC10.
Same thing works on my other bike with a Rotor power meter: the power meter supplies cadence, GSC10 provides speed only.

I am also able to spin the back wheel, and see the speed respond

You can remove the cadence components entirely and only the speed will be picked up from the GSC 10.
I had Gen 1 stages with Edge 510 and GSC10 working fine for years with cadence from Stages.
Updated to Stages Gen 3 and still worked fine with 510 / GSC10
Updated to Edge 530 and everything still works fine - speed from the GSC10, cadence from Stages.
