Edge 530 as speedometer and odometer without course

If you want to record a ride without setting up a predetermined distance or route is this possible? If so, how.

Example I just want to record my data without setting up a course or distance on bike ride similar to an old style bike computer without GPS.

Sure, that's how I use it all the time, just select the profile you want to use then press start (bottom right button). Press it again to stop recording.

Recording a ride is separate from navigation.

It’s common to not to use navigation.
