Bluetooth pairing problems

Hello, I am not able to connect my new phone with my Garmin Edge 530 with 6.0 version application version installed:

Last week my old phone broke and I used other two phones while I was waiting for the new one, I connected those phones to my Edge without any problem. But, finally my Motorola G 5G Plus arrived and I has been impossible to pair the phone and the Edge.

I do the pairing process as usual but the problem comes when it reaches to the point both devices exchange Pin codes, if I press accept in the Edge, the phone seems to not notice (Because It never closes the Pin popup and restarts the Bluetooth search for other devices), if I press accept in the phone, the both devices close the Pin popup and the process seems to continue, but I do not know if they are doing something because, a minute or some later a pairing error is shown and the process is stopped.

In order to solve the problem I have tried every troubleshooting guide, I have switched off/on both the devices, uninstalled the apk from the smartphone, deleted the phone from the Edge and the Bluetooth connection data from the phone, I have Reset the Edge to Factory data... I do not know what else I could do...

I would appreciate some help because I am out of ideas

  • Hello, I could not fix my problem but I found a workaround: I just paired my Edge with my old phone and made the set up process with the Garmin Connect app, then I just switched off my old phone and synced the new one with the Edge 530 (using the Bluetooth section of the phone, avoiding it in the Garmin Connect app) , then I opened the Garmin Connect app and it continued working without noticing the change, I have tried almost all the communications between the two devices and it seems everything is ok.

  • I have an iPhone X and just received my Edge 530.  Pairing the 530 with my phone has been unsuccessful as well.  I've tried everything that you mention above.  One oddity is when I tell the Connect app to "Start" the pairing process, it gives me a pop-up to "Select an Accessory".  The list is blank.  I select "Cancel", the process appears to continue for a bit and then fail.  Bluetooth pairing should be trivial at this point in time...  No idea why it's this hard with this device.

  • I have tried this trick with my Edge520 and my Moto G 5G Plus and no dice it does not pair together at all The Edge520 shows up as previously paired devices its like the Android 11 software is buggy ?

  • Same problem. For me the fix seemed to involve updating the 530 software to version 9.10.

It shipped with version 8.?.  Had to connect via USB cable to a computer running Garmin Express, check for updates (found a map update but said the SW was up to date. That was a lie. I disconnected the USB, cycled the power on the 530, then at startup it asked if I wanted to install 9.10. Installed it, then restored the factory settings, powered up again, and it went to the pairing mode. I erased the BT connections from my tablet, then ran Garmin Connect on the tablet, and the pairing process finally worked.

You only seem to get one chance at having the pairing pin code appear on the 530, so if it doesn't work the first time, you have to reset to factory defaults before you can try again.
