This weekend i was riding MTB. I needed to go towards a saved address, and let the Garmin calculate a route when the MTB profile was selected.
Because Garmin is not able to make a good distinction between preferable MTB routes (bike routes) and walking routes, this attempt to get to my meeting point was very frustrating.
A lot of walking (steep, so not really safe with pedal shoes), and at the end of a large descent a forest road block.
I decided to return to the nearest main road by foot, and wanted to get to my meeting point by road . So i selected the profile "road/race". The Garmin noted that my original route will be lost, and it would calculate a new road. I confirmed the remark, and surprise: after recalculation, the device suggested me the same walking route again which i took to get on the main road.
So it is clear that after making the calculation on a certain profile, the device does not take care of the change of the profile afterwards.
Btw: my road/race profile itself works correctly: when i selected a new destination after the above, it did not send me on offroad routes anymore.
