Performance Notification (Performance Condition and Training effect)

Is there something special that needs to be done to have Performance condition and training effect show up? Have both on and I use a heart rate monitor and a pwr meter. It never shows up after a ride. My old Garmin devices would show me how must rest I need after a ride, I know it's kind of useless but I like to just see that after each ride.

  • Performance Condition is a datafield that can be found in the Other category, and if you go to the Summary screen at the end of the ride, you should be able to see Training Effect.

Both of these can also be viewed in Garmin Connect.

  • I have had it pop up after a ride. Also, on my 520 after a ride it would tell me how many hours of rest it thinks I need. I don't get anything of now on the 530.

  • Try My Stats> Performance Notifications> PC, VO2Max & TE = On.

I got the following sequence of screens at the end of my ride today:

  • Yes, I have all those turned on and I still do not get that notification after my rides. I did a factory reset two days ago and still do not get that after my rides. I can't figure it out. Very frustrating

  • I used an edge 520 plus before and the performance condition alert would pop up on every ride after 10 min or so. Didn't show up on my new edge 530 and I'm quite confused too.

  • My Stats> Performance Notifications> Performance Condition = On.

PC needs a baseline to compare it to, so likely you won't get it on your first ride.

Also, you need to be in HR zone 2 to get PC, so make sure your HR zones have been correctly imported into your new device from Garmin Connect.

  • I have had the 530 for months, I've had that turned on the whole time, have my HR set right and I have never had it show me my performance condition (when it would show about 10 mins into a ride, my current recovery level. Also, I will go out and kill myself with a ride over 200 TSS and it will tell me it's a recovery ride and that my recovery is about 4-5 hours.

  • Thanks, that might be the reason. My recent rides were easy at the beginning, probably in zone 1.
