Navigation Route Pointer Help

I’ve searched the forum and can’t see this is answered but apologies if it’s been covered many times.

I was following a 90k bike route I’d downloaded to the 530 and was getting turn by turn assurance which was very useful. At the turnaround point approx half way I didn’t go exactly to the very end of the navigation route/file (half way was on a peninsular and I turned around perhaps 50m early). I started on my way back retracing the route but then I. Prices The navigation arrow wanted to take me back to the point where I hadn’t finished that part of The route and it stopped giving me turn by turn assurance.  Question - is there any way you can take a menu option to say I want to follow the route from this point but don’t keep trying to force me back. My preference woulD
be not to restart the navigation

many thanks for any assistance

  • The Edge 530/830 seem to be very insistant on returning you to exactly where you allegedly left the route. Did you stop the route at some point after those off-course notifications? Because I noticed that it will actually take a few kilometers/miles before the unit will give up and accept that you skipped a section of the course.

Also, was your route before and after the u-turn mostly identical or were those different paths/roads? I could image that the unit might get confused if off-course and not sure whether you're already on your way back.

You could always stop the route (without stopping the activity/recording) and load it up again. It should pick up navigation wherever you are on teh course - however, again, I'm not sure how it behaves if the way out and back are identical (I'd hope it'd take direction of movement into account).

  • Many thanks. Yes the u turn point was identical for about 6kms before looping a slightly different way home. As you say it might have got confused. I stopped looking at the map because it wasn’t playing ball after that so perhaps I stick with it for longer if that happens again. Thanks for The response.
