are we getting the new re-routing as in the 1030 plus?

Did anyone say whether the new 3 re-routing options and also the ability to pause a routing will come to the 530 (and the 830)?

  • Having seen the DC Rainmaker video, I would say no. Other features from the 1030+ seem to be coming though. Garmin have to do something different in the 1030+ to justify the price.

  • Judging from the F5 -> F5+ -> F6 transition: No. The Edge 530+ will get the feature, though.

It appears that the Plus models are essentially

    • upgraded / improved hardware (more memory, faster CPU)
    • all the bug fixes rolled into them

While this sounds nice, they pretty much do not get any new features added. These will be part of the next non-Plus iteration. So, if you want a - for Garmin standards - bug free implementation, buy a Plus series but keep in mind: you get what you pay for. Buy a non-Plus version if you trust Garmin to fix things and come up with new features during the lifetime of the device.

  • All the bug fixes rolled into the future units??? are u kidding me....how many garmins have u had? Garmins have packed so many features into their units that it's hard to make everything worked as advertised or as u expected.

  • Evidently early feedback from 1030 plus user are that the new re-routing works well - gone is the useless U turn notification...the unit actually re-routed around a blocked road....https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-1030-plus/230170/first-ride-report

I believe this new re-routing should be provided also to the 530 and 830 units. Correct me if i'm wrong the 1030 Plus has the same processor as the 830 (which is similar to the 530??)...so the 530/830 processor should be able to handle the new routing algorithm.

It'll make a world of difference on properly navigating on the 530/830.

  • Of course the processor can handle this calculation. This isn't a hardware limitation.

If they decide to keep this feature exclusive to the 1030 Plus (and other upcoming devices) it will simply be due to product differentiation, which is fair I guess, but after Garmin probably saw a lot of customers flee to Wahoo in recent years they should keep up the momentum and goodwill they have built up with the well-regarded 530/830 series and let their customers benefit from new feature updates like these.

  • Really would like this!
I'm tired on the constant "Do a U-Turn in 80m" when you go off course, even if you're at 100m of the supposed track in a detour!

  • So you're saying that if you purchase something you don't expect it to work as advertised? Can I sell you something?

  • Agreed, it would be nice - what would you make buying a (hypothetical) 530+ though?
