Quickest Way to Stop Navigating Route

Hi,

I was just wondering what the quickest way to stop navigating on a route mid-ride would be on the Edge 530 i.e. the least number of button presses and scrolling through menus.

Often I'll start riding on a route, using navigation mode etc and then decide mid-ride that I want to cut it short or add on some extra miles, and thus want to stop navigation mode.

This was really easy on the 800/820 because it just had a big red X on the map page, but what's the quickest way to do it on the 530 so I'm not spending ages fiddling with it.

Thanks, Adam

    Thanks for the reply.

Sure, that's an option, but I was hoping for something without having to stop the activity at all.

  • Press the top right button to bring up the context menu. One of the options will be stop course if one is running.

Cool, how do you do the opposite? Imagine, You pick a course. You start in the middle of the course and pass the start point. Then the navigation stops and says the navigation is complete. How can you avoid this? In other words how do I keep navigating when I pass the start point.

  • So,  you have a route that goes to points A-B-C-D-E-A.  You pick up the course at D so the unit navigates you to E then A and finishes as you have reached the destination.  This is what any sat-nav will do.  I assume you want it to carry on and take you to B, C and D?  If that's the case then as far as I know you have three choices 1) Once the route completes at A, carry on cycling for a bit to towards B then start the route again and it should pick up the route  2) edit the route on on Garmin Connect (or other) and create D-E-A-B-C-D or 3) When you get to A and the route completes, use the 'navigate to start' option on the unit.  Note:That this option will navigate directly to D and will not follow your original route.  Hope this helps!
