I have had my Edge 530 for about 3 months now. It has functioned perfectly up until last weekend.
I was prompted to update my software to 5.50, which I just agreed to on the device.
The next day it took literally hours to get the device to switch on and stay on properly. Eventually it did and I was able to load up the course I had planned. Off we went - however, I realised quite quickly that there was no map and we were basically following a breadcrumb route. Assumed this was to do with the restart and not giving it enough time.
However, I still have no maps.
When I go to the map information/select map screen there is just a grey screen, and nothing to select. When I look at the map there is just a green dot where I am.
I have plugged my device into garmin express (on two laptops, one windows and one apple) and tried to update my maps. Garmin express says 'maps up to date', but when I select reinstall it seems to fail at the update stage.
On looking in the device folder when plugged into the laptop I do not appear to have a gmapbmap.img file. I do have gmapprom.img, gmapprom2.img, gmaptz.img.
Does anyone have any bright ideas on how I get maps back???
(I don't know whether this is relevant but when the device is plugged in it also seems to randomly disconnect so that I have to restart updates etc - I have tried different USB cables and different computers but still the same!)
