Edge 530 Strava segments live not showing

Hi support,

I followed all the steps to get the Strava segments:

Enabled strava over Garmin segments

Created route from Strava website

Starred segments in Strava

Opened course through the IQC Strava

Still no segments. Tried to cycle without navigation, still nothing.

  • Sorry, I was venting a little and replying in general rather than directly to your post. It looks like i have to reply to someone, so might as well be the creator of the thread. It seems i've missed the party regarding Strava and Garmin integration, so I'm hopeful that Strava will partner with a manufacturer of GPS devices if Garmin can't work with Strava in a more fluid way that makes it easy to use for beginners. It's so easy on the phone to open Strava, hit record, then forget about it, however I do sometimes lose part of my stats if I touch the phone or don't lock it properly in transit, so thought this would put an end to that. Garmin Connect isn't bad, but most of the trails segments are missing locally for me, so where I might have 40 Strava segments in a row on a particular run that I can compare myself against, I now might have 2 or 3 in Garmin for the same route. I haven't investigated Trailforks yet, but this could be really useful, especially if I can switch between Strava, Trailforks and even maybe Garmin Connect effortlessly. Then this would be a really powerful and useful tool to me.

  • Trailforks app on the phone is awesome, especially for rides under a couple of hours.  The biggest limitation is battery, but if you turn off wifi, cellular and turn down brightness, you can get well over a couple of hours.  You record in trailforks, and it uploads to strava.  However, if you want HR recording, you need to figure out another option.  For me, I track/route/record in trailforks and then use the polar app to record HR/route and then send this to strava for HR and GPS data.  If you don't need heartrate, you can just send to strava from trailforks directly.  With all of this, you won't get garmin connect.  So, it's sad to walk away from Garmin as connect was decent (for integration and display of everything health)  and I wanted to keep my Fenix but it was all too temperamental and as you say, I just spent sooo much time trying to get basic stuff/display to work.   If garmin got their act together with UI and hardware, they could crush apple, polar, whoop, fitbit, wahoo, etc....but, right now, people go to all these other products because they just work in their particular domains.
