Time stamping without GPS

I've never seen anything like this before, and it's only been something I have noticed since the latest update.

On an indoor ride, where I assume the non-GPS time stamping is being used, my rides are now being reported with incorrect duration. Time is effectively being "lost".

This can be seen on the following power analysis: https://www.zwiftpower.com/analysis.php?set_id=39274

At the start of the ride, power is nice aligned

Yet, by the end of the ride, the time stamping of the zwift file versus that coming from the Edge 530 is off by in excess of 6 seconds. It's like the Edge is "losing time" somewhere. The Edge is recording the KICKR power data. Zwift is recording the P2M.

Very strange.

  • Found the spot where it went wrong.

Maybe just a random one-off issue? But I've still never seen an Edge "lose time" before. You might get drop outs, or it freezes, but it would always start recording new data at the correct relative time to the start of the file.

  • Is auto pause on?  Maybe that had something to do with it if there was a signal dropout?

  • No, I don't ever have auto-pause activated on any of my devices, even outdoors.

  • Also, as I understand it auto-pause shouldnt, in principle, matter.

These types of analysis tools use the time stamp of each data point. So if you manually paused one device, but left the other running during a stop, both would show zero data during that period of time. This is actually a situations I believe where the "internal clock" of the Edge has skipped 6 seconds or so, mid activity. Hence being very confused by it, but also thinking it could be due to the new background time determination that has been introduced for indoor workouts in the latest update.
