A new Beta software (5.48) for the Edge 530 has been released. Full change log, instructions, and software for installing the beta can be found Here.

  • For any issues that you encounter please fill out the form included in the download and attach it to an email to [email protected]. Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.
  • Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

(Note: Please include a copy of your debugging folder in your response email if you experience any issues)

Changes made from version 5.50 to 5.51:

  • Added diagnostics to monitor field performance.
  • It's very clear Karlheinz does not understand software development. Testing is very important, it is almost impossible not using the users in the testing process. So it is a good thing, instead of blaming Garmin learn from users feedback.

  • I don't blame them, that they want to learn from user feedback. I blame them, that they don't implement it in a good way. There should be a working bug tracker, it should be easy to provide feedback, you should receive answers to emails you send them...

    Not much of this works.

And further more: this product is about two years old! We are not talking about a realy new product and initial problems with it.

  • The Edge 530 was only released last year!!

  • And? Don't you think that should be working, stable device until now?

In my opinion there are things that should be stable like power, HR, cadence.

Garmin should be focused on these simple things that we use for trainig and competing with others instead adding new features and testing it endless.

  • , if we're not experiencing any issues with the 530 on 5.50, would it be of help installing this beta? i had a course followed with climbpro activated - all about 110k and no issues during 4h:30mins and 2000m of elevation gain. then also a free ride also of 100k, no issue. sensor wise- hrm and cadence during the climbpro ride, power + hrm during the other ride. no crash, no lag, no glitch, nada. overall, i'm happy with this fw, worked great at least for me.

  • you are lucky guy Upside down. I rode on a bike today and experienced a crash on my 530 with version 5.50 (stable Sweat smile). Just a few seconds after sensors was dropped. Garmin restarted and returned to re-record my ride.

  • Did you report the issue to Garmin as per top of page?

  • So following on from your post the iPhone was released in 2007, don't you think the software would be perfectly bug free by now?

  • I think we are on garmin forum and we should focus on garmin products.

I pay my hard earned money and wish to have good product for that.

If I was to be a tester - ok. Let garmin give me a edge unit for free and I will test it every sigle day for them.
