Can I disable all turn by turn features except for the embedded ones on a TCX file?

Hi all,

When I plan a long route I like to create my own tcx file with custom cues (like pubs/cafes/feed stations). I also like to slim down on some of the unnecessary notifications. I do this by creating a route in Ride With GPS. My question is can I import these routes to a garmin 530 and keep all of the original navigational cues and have none of the garmin ones?

I recently tested a garmin 530 from a friend but I couldn't work it out so I opted not to purchase one. I currently have a wahoo bolt but I am finding the screen a little small so I am thinking of getting a garmin 530. I really dont want to auto created cues. I much prefer to go through the route in advance and plan it with my own cues.

If not is it possible to do this garmin connect?

THanks

Rob

  • You can turn off "turn guidance" to disable the turn instructions calculated by the device (the ones that show up as big white arrows).

Garmin uses the term "course points" for what you are calling "custom cues".

RWGPS itself generates the course points for turns and includes these with your "custom cues" when you export the route.

If you don't want the RWGPS-generated ones, you have to delete them from RWGPS. (RWGPS will add some of them back if you edit the course.)
