Feature request: correction to heart rate zones based on %LTHR

To the Garmin support team,

In a previous frorum entry, I reported difficulties in entering heart rate zones directly on the Edge 530 (not through Garmin Connect) based on %LTHR: For zone 5, any minimum value entered say 105% is automatically cut to 100%. It would be correct to cut to 100% when using percentages of the maximum heart rate. But, this is certainly wrong when using percentages relative to the lactate threshold. My Edge 530 has the latest firmware v. 5.10.

My previous post is forums.garmin.com/.../entering-heart-rate-zones-relative-to-lthr

Please be so kind to correct this problem!

Best wishes,

Thomas

  • You can always enter the zones to specified BPM to get around this.  Your LTHR won't change often so this should be OK for you to do.

There is a way to change the percentages though.

If you go to your device settings on the Garmin Connect website you can enter custom heart rate zones and choose them to be based on %LTHR.  You can enter custom values for the BPM/%.  Change the BPM and the % will update and vice versa.  Hit save settings and sync your device via Gamin Express.  Now if you go to the zone settings on your device you will see zones defined by %LTHR and the % values you want.  If you change the LTHR number the percentages don't change and your zones will update as defined by your custom percentages.
