Looking for an affordable power meter..

So, I have the EDGE 530 and I also have a 6s watch. The problem I have discovered, is that unless I run on a regular basis.. I loose my "training status" because I dont have a power meter on my bike.

I see the Garmin pedals.. but, at $1K (or close to it) this is a bit much right now (especially in the pandemic mess we all are in).

Anything cheaper that still will be worth buying for accurate results on the bike?

I'm pretty happy with my 4iiii Precision (non-drive side only), no issues with the Edge 530. The Shimano 105 is relatively cheap.

Power2max NG Eco. Measures total power and auto calibrates anytime you don't pedal. If your crank matches it is a great fit. I have 3 of those (Jekyll, Scalpel, and Synapse all Cannondale).

Stages is a good option as well - I have both a gen1 and gen3 - and the gen1 is working great since 2014...:-)

Send the Heartrate to your Edge while cycling (you have to add it as an Sensor) and Edge will give you the Training load. I usually start an activity on my Forerunner in parallel to have a more acurate heartrate reading, and delete this activity later on, and save only the activity on the edge.

You won´t have VO2max or Powermeter data, but at least the training load & status & training load focus

Accuracy is pretty good and it's significantly cheaper. I'm an amateur cyclist, I definitely don't need to spend 1k on a dual-sided meter (the same way e.g. the difference for Ultegra vs 105 would be irrelevant for me).

The Edge 530 already gives me training load and training status. I use the Garmin chest strap for the HR. No need to wear my watch. Plus, the strap is much more accurate for HR data anyway.

The problem.. is VO2 Max. Without this data, training status cant continue for more than about 2 weeks.. unless I run with my watch. This is why I need a power meter.

Ok, I see. But of course you will get a second, separate VO2Max (Biking), your Vo2max for running will not be continued.
