Navigating a saved route without starting Timer will not register distance, speed etc? What is the menu preferred sequence by Garmin?

I have searched in the Help but for me it is not very clear explained.

1. Is it possible to navigate a saved route without starting the Timer?

Because I think that I ALWAYS have to start the Timer first in case I want to ride a saved route/course with the edge 530.

Otherwise the stats of the route will not be registered on the Edge 530.

Is that how its meant to work for the Edge 530?

2. What is the preferred sequence of menu steps I have tot take when navigating a route?

In order to save a ride you must start the timer in general.

For riding a course I would suggest Menu/Navigation/Courses/select course/Ride ( the latest will start the timer)

You might want to set the Edge to tell you when you ride without having startet the timer : forums.garmin.com/.../constant-blue-arrow-and-beeping-while-riding

Think of the timer more like a record button.

if you don’t start it, nothing is recorded.

Loading a route is more like just a play button.

to do what you want, it’s like an old cassette player and you need to press play and record.
