Satellites lost

Have been having issues with lost satellites since upgrading my edge 530 to 5.10 a week ago. It could be unrelated however I did not have this issue before. This is happening out on the open road not under bridges or anything except cloud cover. Should I revert to version 5.0 ? I am fustrated as my ride's gps tracks are impacted.

  • What GPS settings are you using currently?

Try switching to GPS only and see if it makes a difference... sometimes there is an issue with Galileo that can affect Garmin devices. Not sure about GLONASS...

Also, Garmin has an app called Garmin WebUpdater... you can use this to reinstall software easily too.

I am having the same problem since I went to 5.10 and I moved from GPS+GLONASS to GPS only and still having a problem. I am dropping in places that I have never dropped before, prior to this upgrade.

  • There is a change in version 5.50 asserted to address an issue with losing satellites.  Whether that is the problem you are experiencing or not, one can't tell.  But when you get the 5.50 update rolled to you, see if that helps.  You can also go to the 5.50 announcement sticky post and directly download the updated code, then put it in the Garmin subdirectory in your 530 and reboot, it will update automatically.  Hope it helps.
