Confused: MTB Trail Navigation menu

Hi all.

New to EDGE devices in general, and I've been tinkering with the EDGE 530 again.

When I navigate the Menu to Navigation / MTB Trail Navigation, what am I supposed to see in there? Mine is blank.
How do I add anything here?

I have Trailforks app and the built in Trailforks map (newly updated) on my EDGE 530, and it's enabled in the Mountain activity profile. The Trailforks tracks do overlay and are visible on the map. Downloading a Trailfork trail to the device does not put it into the folder either.

I've searched the Online Manual, but haven't found anything that clears this up.

Sorry if it's a stupid question...

  • It shouldn't be blank. you should see local (or saved) trails. Mine for instance, shows all trails within a 20 mile radius. Check your permissions on both Garmin and TF. Also, you have to be signed into TF, on WiFi, etc on the 530.

  • Thanks for the reply. I'm signed in, and have granted permissions.

Should I only be seeing Trailforks trails in here?

I don't have any local Trails, just other people's routes.
I have some TF Trails in a Wishlist.

But still blank. I'm new to Trailforks too, and what makes it hard is it being a hot mess in my area. Just some random routes from someones Strava that aren't labelled or named properly.

  • when you open TF on the 530, I see (and you should have something similar); 'My Routes',  'Nearby Routes' and 'Browse Top Routes'. If you have those, it should be working. If when you go into those, they are blank, that is probably because you didnt save any routes or have any near you. Browse Top Routes should still show something.

  • sorry, and meant to add, that under the TF app, you will only see trails that exist in Trailforks (load the app on your phone to compare side by side or something). The Strava import also seems to be working for me so you can go that route as well.

  • Thank you for the clarification.

I have some TF trails saved under favourites and can find nearby routes using the TF app.
Yet nothing appears in the MTB Trail Navigation list.

  • ah, I see. The TF stuff I was referring to was under 'Connect IQ'. You are referring to under 'Navigation'. When I look there, I do get a listing of nearby trails. Clicking on those pulls up the map with TF icons.

I'm not sure why its pulling up blank for you. Double check your TF and Garmin Connect settings everywhere (desktop GC app, phone GC app, on the GPS itself, and also by logging into TF).

Could also be you just don't have anything nearby or your search area is too small? (TF has a setting for how far out of a radius to use. Mine is set to 20 miles)

  • Did you ever get this solved? I’ve got the same problem. Beers

  • Did you ever solve this issue? I’m having the same problem. Beers

  • My issue is that I have no Trailfork Trails in my area that will fall into the criteria to be listed here. So mine remains blank.

Trailfork app on the Garmin does require you to create a TF account, and link the device app to your account. But I can't verify that since I don't live in an area with TF trails

  • Ohhh okay must be the same for me as I was asking the trailforks dev team to include the China trails in the next Garmin data dump as they seem to be missing.
