Elevation recording stopped during ride.

Rode yesterday from sea level up the Haleakala volcano in Maui Hawai’i. My 530 tracked the elevation perfectly on the way up and for a few minutes down from 10000’ to 8000’. The elevation recording then flat lined at 8k’ and didn’t measure rest of descent which is basically a mirror image of the track up. It was raining heavily when the recording stopped. HR and speed worked fine the entire ride. Wondering if water can 530 elevation or other ideas for fixes.

Several people have posted about this happening to them, search for "elevation"

Happened to me exactly once in the 6 months I've had the 530, wasn't wet or rainy at the time.

My 500, 520+ and now 530 also consistently misrepresents elevation during rain/downpour.

Occasionally, this happens with simple 'mist' as well. I've grown accustomed to choosing the option to 'fix/enable' elevation corrections in Strava & Garmin Connect, after these type of misty rides.

Thanks. FYI, Garmin support also got back to me with the same diagnosis and fix recommendation.
