Crashes

Hi, 

I've just bought a 530 to replace my 810 (which was really reliable) as I fancied the new MTB features and just a faster more modern product . Spent a while updating the firmware , setting up my screens etc with no issues at all (except I miss the 810s touchscreen) . 

So today I took it to the bike park with me , it was about 5°c all day and it crashed to a black screen with backlight at least 5 times . Requiring me to hard reset the device to get it to come back on (sometimes this didn't work right away) . I got pretty frustrated with it .. are there any features I need to disable with known bugs  or have I got a dodgy unit I need to warranty).

Since I've got home I've plugged it into my pc and done trailforks and base map updates that I had missed and I've been running the unit in my pocket for 2.5hrs and hasn't crashed at all. Could this of fixed it , a map update seems unlikely to fix the issue to me but you never know. Has anyone else had similer crash circumstances and fixed it?

  • What sensors if any did you have paired with the Edge?

  • I didn't have any sensors connected , just my phone

  • Look in the Garmin\Debugging folder is there an err_log.txt file? If so could you post it?

  • Unfortunately error type 8 is an abnormal power down caused by the hard resets so what caused the lock-up is not captured.

    Have you downloaded any Connect IQ data fields/apps?

  • Only komoot , and the ones that were pre I stalled
