Indoor: Can Created Connect Workouts Control a Trainer in ERG?

Wondering if I can use Garmin Connect to create a structured workout, then use that workout to control an Indoor Trainer in ERG mode

With that, wondering if the Trainer would have to measure cadence natively, or if it could utilize cadence on Vector 3s for example.

Appreciate any thoughts!

  • In my experience - if you set up a structured workout with your zones, the 530 will force the trainer to ERG mode. I confirmed this to be the default with garmin support - and - for that matter - if you create a structured zone workout, there is no way to turn off erg mode for that workout.

I'm running a 530 with a Neo 2, Favero pedals and garmin cadence sensor. I believe that th trainer simply responds to the 530 - I believe the trainer to be blind of the inputs to the comp unit.
