Edge 530 won't display/record HR from Forerunner 645

I have an Edge 530 and a Forerunner 645, and I have successfully paired the watch as an HR sensor with the Edge.  When I put the watch into "broadcast HR" mode, the edge detects an HR sensor, but the HR data field on the edge does not show a value, and the the rides I record do not have HR data.  I've tried removing  and re-adding the sensor several times but that doesn't help.  Anyone have any idea how to get this working?

    This works just fine between my Fenix 6 and Edge 530.

    Have you checked that you are using Broadcast HR or Broadcast HR During Activity as appropriate? If it is During Activity, then it will only broadcast when an activity is being recorded on the watch. This won't activate if the 645 is just in watch mode.

    It also worked fine with my Forerunner 935 when I forgot my heart rate strap one time.
