Wheel circumference

Hi,

I just got a new Edge 530.

Where do I set the wheel circumference?

    Thanks for the confirmation. It is a pity that we cannot change the wheel dimension even when the sensor is not detected. I've always done this with my watches...

    In case not obvious (if it is, my apologies) you don't need a speed sensor to record speed when riding out doors as the GPS will do that. You only need them for non smart turbo trainers, rollers, or if you spend a lot of time riding in tunnels.

    I find the speed sensor more accurate; this is also the reason I manually set the wheel size instead of the auto configuration with GPS ;)

    While I get that a wheel sensor will provide more accuracy, I personally went to GPS based computers years ago to get away from the whole sensor thing.  I wanted a device that did all the measuring in the head unit and didn't need anything installed on the bike, as well as being able to swap between bikes with no hassle.  My 530 came in a bundle that included a speed sensor, so I put that sensor on the "alpha" wheelset that I use on the main MTB.

    It is a big, big mystery why there has to be an active communication with the sensor to modify, to finetune the circumference.

    One can do it on a Garmin Fenix 3, 5, 5+ and 6 not just without an active comm, but one can do it even after disable the sensor totally (to set it OFF).

    Just a small inconsistency in the giant realm of Garmin.
