Indoor ride and speed sensor

Went for my first indoor ride today with the edge 530. Speed was all over the place. What gives. Luckily I have a cateye hooked up as well for my back up and when I MTN bike I use my Fenix as a backup until they fix these issues with this thing. Anyone have problems with speed reading sporatically.. Don't have the issue with my 510.

Check that the wheel size is manually set and not set to auto under the sensor details when in communication with the sensor.

None of my sensors are set to auto. Always manual.

Which type of speed sensor is it?

Do you have multiple devices paired to the speed senor recording the same activity? If so could you share those files.

No. Just speed and cadence and HR using the 530 on my Spin Bike which has pads not electro-magnetic.

I'm assuming it is the newer magnet-less speed sensor? Even though the speed sensor does not use a magnetic it is affected by magnetic fields as it use a magnetometer to detect rotation.

To confirm that the issue is with the speed sensor could you record your next indoor ride on this bike using both the 530 and the Fenix. If both recordings show issues with the speed then it is likely that some part of the bike has gotten magnetized and is affecting the speed readings from the sensor.

Hi Guys!

Yesterday i rode on my Kickr Core.The Edge Show only Speed 1-2km/h. Some time it rise to the correct Speed at 30-32km/h. I check the Speed with my Fenix 6 Pro. The Fenix Shows the correct Speed from the Kickr. I think it´s a Problem with the Edge.

Rode my Kickr Core last night along with my 530. Speed was consistent and seemingly accurate (although does not match Zwift as expected because of terrain).

Make sure you have the correct wheel size set on the Edge.

I found the problem! I had to pair the kickr as a power meter. It probably doesn't just take him to pair him as an indoor trainer....
