Is Garmin working on improving the GPS still?

The GPS update a month ago didn't seem to help me at all. I still have regular drop outs of live segments making that important training feature that I pay for unusable. Others are complaining about the GPS also. Can mods confirm if this will be fixed or tell us if it is not fixable due to the Sony GPS chip?

  • I've admittedly been lucky with the GPS. I've had no perceptible drops outside of in tunnels or long underpasses. I'm in Europe and have it set to GPS+Galileo.

That being said, anything that can be done to improve it is a win in my book.

  • Yep as expected this topic was totally avoided by Garmin officials, leaving me to assume that my Edge 530 will never have GPS accuracy as good as my old Edge 520.

I will have to go back to using my 520 for training on local segments and just use my 530 for longer rides when I need a better battery.

I knew I should have bought a Wahoo instead, what an idiot I am :(
