Garmin 530 Strava Segments "OFF SEGMENT"

Hi guys... after much deliberation I've opted to go Garmin again.. retired my old 820. (the usb connector corroded and would no longer charge) A loyal servant with a few glitches over the years...

What it didn't ever do ... is lose Strava Segments. Oh woe is the new Edge 530 totally not fit for task.

Using the new Garmin 530 Strava segments (firware 4.10) I have tried the same segment with GPS / GPS + Galileo / GPS + GLONAS

Makes no difference after X Km's I lose the segment.

I don't really know what to do from here.. Strava segments are quite integral to my training program. Is this a hardware issue? I've never had this issue with my 820, and as a guide I've ridden this segment 90 odd times.

Anyone able to assist. Perhaps my unit is faulty?

giantrat, can you explain GPS accuracy as I have said I analyse the data down to each point, I am happy to help and have a look at activity and the strava segment you are trying to match too. this is my profile www.strava.com/athletes/lopey66

I will go and do a 600 meter loop with my 530 and do multiple laps of it to see what issues I get with it, I have loaded beta 4.25 firmware

I found no GPS accuracy issues and no off segments, I did this loop with 2 bikes, one bike with power and speed sensor (6 laps) and the other without(4 laps), the picture is of 6 laps, the road is narrow, accuracy of each point +5 metres. segment created using 1 sec recording as the activity.

Lopey66 are you using Strava Live segments while riding? That is the issue it drops the segment while riding, not all segments but many. Thus making the Strava live training feature almost useless. Even when it does not drop out the times in front or behind are wildly inaccurate.

Yes when I upload the ride it looks ok but that is not my issue.

This does not happen on my 520.

Here is my Garmin activity, the GPS tracks don't look too far off. But 530 was telling me I was off the Strava segments multiple times on laps 2 and 3.

YEP so this is what we have all been saying again and again and Garmin have been totally ignoring on purpose is that Strava Live Segments on 530 is BROKEN.

giantrat I can confirm on segment when I go through a tunnel and the GPS is lost, that it will go off segment. Have you tried creating a course of the segment as, courses behave differently, being that when you go off course it will search for the course and put you back on course.
