Yes, otherwise average speed suffers when you stop for a break, lights etc
For training/fitness rides I never use autopause, because any breaks have impact on training result, and I want to have those breaks included in the data for analysis, like how long did the break last…
But isn’t there „average speed“ as well as „speed in motion“?
For training/fitness rides I never use autopause, because any breaks have impact on training result, and I want to have those breaks included in the data for analysis, like how long did the break last, how much did my heart rate drop, etc.
And for recreational rides I do not use autopause either, because I don't really care. On very rare occasions I use manual pause.
+1
those are my arguments against Auto Pause as well, good to hear that I’m not alone
I don't use auto pause. I sometimes have to compare data recorded by multiple bike computers and auto pause will make the post ride data comparison challenging.

The average speed field is the overall average speed including stops. It is not the moving average speed. There is no way to see your moving average speed without having auto pause on. This has been true since at least the Edge 800. I don't know about earlier Edge devices.
This should be really included as a data field and I'm missing it sorely on all Garmin devices I used so far. I don't like autopause either, but I have to ask our on-the-go average from people who use different devices or auto pause on Garmin.
I’ve meant average speed in motion in Garmin connect. This doesn’t seem to exist on the edge itself - unfortunately
