Reversing Course on device or smartphone

Hello, when I was about to start a course but I wanted to ride it in the other opposite direction, is it possible to reverse that course by only using your GPS device? I couldn't find it. Then I searched in the Garmin Connect app, and also didn't find it. So you have to use your PC to reserve your course?

  • I wouldn't hold my breath.  It's apparent to me that Garmin has B engineers working on bike computers or possibly on the 530 Edge only.  This irritant has been around for over a year now.  They reserve their A engineers for Garmin's aviation line.

So it's been suggested that you should bring up the map and follow its course.  You can do that by bringing up a course, then choosing Map instead of Ride.  The problem with this is it doesn't give you any of the data afforded to riding the course non-reversed.

My solution was to create the initial course on BikeMap, ride it to see if any changes are required, then select the reverse of it on BikeMap.  It will be an entirely different course on your 530 Edge, but it will follow the same path.  Awkward but it works for me.

  • This thread is about doing it on the Garmin device, not phone or computer.

Thank you , but the OP was having a problem with the phone as well. See subject "Reversing Course on device or smartphone" and quote below.

  • They may be reading these comments, but there is no action.  I won't buy a Garmin again.  The 530 is made to do it all for all types of riders and exercisers.  I don't need all those functions that complicate the GUI and especially if they can't focus on one group of riders and give them functions that other computer providers do. These are simple functions, but they choose to shotgun it.  Shotguns don't hit everything.
