Multiple Bikes in one ride, does not pick up sensor on second bike.

A few weeks a go I completed a Dual discipline bike ride split into 3 parts but under one tracking event

1) road ride. on my road bike with the road profile selected.

2) MTB, on my MTB bike  with the MTB Profile selected.

3) Back on the road Bike with the Road profile selected.

Both bikes have the new speed and cadence sensors which work fine when using ether on dedicated tracked rides.

During this ride the Edge 530 would not pick up the sensors after switching to the MTB bike and profile.

Has any one had this issue?

  • Kind of makes sense if you look at it from the view that you wouldn’t want a sensor flip flopping between devices mid ride if they were on different bikes etc. The thing is, a sensor isn’t dedicated to a bike, it’s just a pool of them to choose from.

Did you try disabling one of the sensors completely? (although not ideal mid race!)

In this situation you may need to go sans sensor - but I agree, it could possibly be done a bit smarter

  • The Edge stops looking for new sensors 2 minutes after starting the timer.

  • I guess that would explain why the 530 and Varia UT800 don't connect if I turn the lights on mid ride. I have to go and disable/enable the sensor
